Twenty years of putting Bangladesh’s harvest on Gulf shelves.
Mohammed Forkan founded S.R. Enterprise in Chattogram in 2005 with a simple conviction: the vegetables Bangladeshi families grow for their own kitchens deserve a place on the shelves of the Gulf, where millions of South Asian families still cook the food they grew up with.
The early years were hard. Fresh produce has no patience — a delayed flight, a missing certificate or a carton packed too tight can turn a full consignment into a loss overnight. Cargo space disappeared in peak season, freight rates moved without warning, and every new importer had to be convinced that a young Chattogram exporter could deliver the same quality week after week.
He answered with discipline rather than shortcuts: buying close to the growers, grading by hand, packing for the flight rather than the truck, and following every consignment until it was cleared at the other end. Trust was built one shipment at a time.
To control the steps that kept going wrong, the business grew into a group — S.R. Impex Ltd. for import–export trade, and S.R. Freight Logistics, a government-approved freight forwarder, so cargo booking and airport handling stay in-house.
In recognition of the company’s export performance, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce named him a Commercially Important Person (CIP – Export) for 2022. He continues to lead the group from Agrabad, Chattogram.
